Adding Levels

If a scene contains two or more levels, you will need to manually add these levels to the project and allocate the relevant Spatial Objects to each. For example, if there is an Entrance on ‘Level One’, you need to manually add the level and associate the Entrance object with it.

Also, any vertical circulation objects (Escalators or Stairs) linking the levels need their start and end points to be associated with the correct levels. For instance, an escalator connecting Level 1 to Level 2 must have its lowermost point associated with Level 1 and its uppermost point associated with Level 2. You can do all this in the Level Manager

This procedure describes how to add and define levels.

  1. Select Tools > Level Manager.
    • The ‘Level Manager’ dialog is displayed. It already contains a nominated Ground level. If you have loaded a data file, it also contains a list of Spatial Objects.
  2. Click Add once for each level you wish to add.
    • All new levels are added to the upper Levels panel.
  3. If necessary, nominate a level as a new Ground level by highlighting it and clicking the Set ground button.
Note: It is not essential that the elevation of the ground level be zero.
  4. Enter the following information for each new level by double-clicking in the relevant cell under each heading and entering new values over the existing ones.
    • Name
    • Thickness–thickness of the level floor (metres).
    • Elevation–height above ground level (metres).
